Back of Missy Elliott's Jacket Running Out of Room for Airbrushed Portraits of Slain Rappers
PORTSMOUTH, VA - Sources close to hip-hop recording artist
Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott have reported that the acclaimed rapper/producer is nearing the critical point at which her clothing will simply have no room to accomodate additional graffiti-style tributes to her fallen colleagues.
Elliott, wearing a powder-blue tracksuit that bore rhinestone-studded images of Aaliyah, Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes, Jam Master Jay, Big Pun, Easy-E, the Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur, refused to answer reporters' questions as she entered the studio where she is currently working on new tracks with co-producer Timbaland. However, some in the rapper's camp say that Elliott's capacity for sartorial memorialization has reached its limit.
"There's only so much one woman can do to keep the memory of the fallen heroes of the rap world in the minds of America through her clothing," said one source who asked not to be named. "Especially now that she's lost weight and therefore has less total yardage of clothing to adorn. And she's had some tense times. Like that Nas/Jay-Z feud that was going on last year--she was worried it would spill over into violence and she'd end up having to use up valuable room on her sleeves or something to commemorate some scrub from one of their posses. She might have been forced to add 'We Remember Memphis Bleek,' for Christ's sake. That's enough to freak anybody out."
Other sources indicate that Elliott feels that rapper 50 Cent may be the ideal candidate for the next rapper to die, as his name could be represented in memorial form with only three characters. "That's a pinky-ring," said the source, "as opposed to someone like Del tha Funky Homosapien, whose death would probably require the purchase of an extra-large rain poncho."
