Procrastination: 7-22-2003
I can't get sick. I don't mean I'm incapable of getting sick of course - I've been sick in the past. I'm quite breakable, you might say. I mean that I'm too stupid to get sick. Again, I don't mean that the fact that I'm a complete dope will somehow shield me from getting ill. I suppose what I'm saying is that I really, really hope I don't get sick. There's no way I could deal with it. I was going through the letters in my inbox (the flat surface on top of my desktop monitor - not only my inbox, but also the home of my pet plastic cockatoo, Miyamoto). The mail only spanned two and a half weeks of not paying attention, but there were half a dozen letters from at least two different insurance companies, including three "benefit" cards. The result of me actually carrying all the insurance cards I have in my possession after only a year of emplyment would be a need for a hernia operation. If I went to a doctor (which I have no idea how to go about doing) and he or she asked for my insurance information, I would probably cry. Man cry, but cry all the same.
Also in drive to clean up my desk (the task from which I'm currently taking a break, natch) I found that parking ticket (well, I'll be honest. That's plural) that I mentioned the other day. So I decided to write a check (which is really SO 5 years ago. But you can only pay by credit card over the net, since you need the ticket information. And they charge a service fee. So it's paper for them. Hey, it probably keeps someone employed, so who am I to argue?). The ticket comes in two parts - a ticket and an envelope. Which is really convenient, until you attempt to insert the ticket into the envelope. Now, I could hypothesize a few situations one could be in that resulted in a need to stick a letter into an ill-fitting envelope. But in none of them does the same guy choosing the letter paper ALSO get to choose the envelope. But then, who am I to judge?
Which is a funny question, because pretty much all I do is both argue AND judge.
[time passes]
Now that I'm done with the paperwork, it's on to some studying. It's a little of a rude awakening to be confronted with a need to study once more in my life, but the fact of the matter is that I have an exam tommorrow. That's so sad. On the upside, I am psyched at the opportunities this is creating for me. I just decided I wanted to study for the exam in bed. But I want to listen to music, which I play from my desktop computer. So I brought the laptop into bed, and ssh'd into my desktop so I could control what's playing without getting up from my studies.
Unfortunately, there's a copy of The Dark Knight Returns on my nightstand that's crying out to be read. I must persevere.
