Still no Rob, still not surprised. I'm leaving for a few days (a week, actually, on a dive trip to the islands. Which islands, I'm not going to say, since I don't want anyone to come looking for me. Suffice to say that it's not going to be Long Island, since the SCUBA diving there isn't that good), so i figure that I'm not going to see him until something like the 20th. And then it's only a few more days until I have to move out of the place altogether. I think I'm going to do my best to avoid him entirely, like Laslo does in Real Genius (which, incidentally, is one of Val Kilmers best movies, second only to Heat). Would be a little better if Rob's room had a closet through which I could access my steam tunnels. I guess I can set that up tonight.

So Jeff is a complete and utter travesty (in case you haven't gotten that yet). I saw him on the 4th at a rooftop party at the apartment (where a good time was had by all - Had a great view of the NYC fireworks display [brought to you by Macy's], and some relatively good DJ's were playing. Tough to get more convenient than your own rooftop, too). He told me that night that his car had been broken into. Poor Jeff.

I called him the other day to see what the status of my security deposit was, and his cell phone was disconnected. Which upset me to no end, and I got all in a tizzy about it. Luckily, one of the many things that he left at the apartment was a checkbook. I'll admit that I played with the idea of just writing myself a check for the amount he owed me, but I figured it would be best to avoid a felony conviction over just a few hundred dollars. So I tracked his parents down with the information on the checks. When I called two days agao, he was at their house, luckily enough, and I got to speak with him. He told me that his cellphone was one of the things stolen from his car, and that's why it was disconnected, and etc etc...

So I called their house again yesterday, and had quite a chat with his mother (who is very upset with the way he's been handling his finances). It was a really funny conversation, 'cuz she was really interested in talking with me - the conversation ran about 20 minutes long (which is longer than I talk to my friends on the phone). Turns out his phone wasn't stolen, he just neglected to pay the bills for it. And there wasa whole bunch of other things, which mostly revolved around how he's such a bad son. We really hit it off, me and her, and she's going to be handling the situation for me.

In any case, it's almost all over now. I'm going to be moving out at the end of July. Don't have a place yet, and I could probably not think of a worse time to be going on a weeks vacation. But on the other hand, everything is going to work out regardless of what I do, so I might as well get some sun. I have to admit, with no one but me in the apartment, it's become a really great place to live. Lots of space, never finding anyone sleeping in the living room, no dirty dishes in the sink. I'll be honest, if it weren't for the fact that everything having to do with the place has been a complete disaster, I wouldn't want to leave.

If I ever do end up meeting Rob, maybe I'll see if I can sublet from him for an extra month. I figure by the time thirty more days pass, there will be 4 more people who have held the lease for the apartment, and I'm always up for meeting new faces.

Oh, and I do have the apartment pictures on my hard drive, but I'm not going to be uploading them for a little while. As I've mentioned before, we're having a little trouble with the ATF FTP, so I don't want to take up more space than I really need to.
