Bush to Consumers: "Click Here to Unsubscribe (heh heh heh)"
6-27-2003 (Archived)
In what is being touted as the world's most widescale and successful harvesting of phone numbers and e-mail addesses of all time, the United States government has recently developed a new
Do Not Call Registry. Operating under the guise as a list of phone numbers that telemarketers are forbidden to call, the Department of the Interior has launched the campaign to collect 10's of millions of email addresses and phone numbers which can then be sold at a premium to
marketing and advertising corporations.
Analysts are expecting this new scheme to demolish the record Bush set last year with his infamous "Please enter your credit card to verify that you are a US citizen" scam included as part of the Homeland Security Act. The previous title was held by Clinton with his "Click here to Unsubscribe" message at the bottom of every news article published about the Lewinsky scandal.
