What with the incredibly long temporal distance between updates, I don't particularly like to reference current events (in an effort to keep the blog from being so dated), but - did you guys watch Lost last week? Holy crap!
That's all I'm going to say about that. I hate spoilers so much. I once sent a sack full of dog poop to the NY Post because of that front page story they did on Raphie Aprile getting his head cut off back when the Sopranos didn't suck (I sent it through UPS, not the Postal Service, so it wasn't a federal crime. Thanks, Law and Order!). In a world with TV shows released on DVD, TiVo (and let's be honest here) BitTorrent, there's no excuse for thinking that just because a show has aired, fans of the show have watched it already. My solution - a complete ban, enforced by law, of discussing television shows. As a pre-emptive measure, water coolers will be a mandatory quiet zone.
I have a copy of Underworld's
Underworld 1992-2002 album on my iPod. Oddly enough, I actually bought the album and ripped it, so it's completely legit. There's this one point in the song
Rez that it leaps forward a track. But if I listen up to that point, and then jump past it by fast forwarding, I can listen to the rest of the song. Obviously, it's at the high point of the song, when everything is going crazy, and I'm bouncing around at me desk head bopping like I'm A-Rod. I tell you this because I think you should be listening to Underworld, if only because they rock
so fucking hard that they knock the shit right out of my iPod.
The Central Park Conservancy Ball is coming up. You'll remember this ball from such ATF adventures as
'The Gates', when Ben, and I (along with the able assistance of Mike S., a friend of ours) took first price in Best Group Costume. WEll, Ben no longer works at Bloomberg, but another friend of ours named Lindsay does. And so it's up to the two of us to carry this particular torch. If anyone has any ideas for costumes that will win us the best couple award, we're all ears.
Hmmmm.... Maybe a pair of ears? Nah, too obvious.
