There Is No Blog: 5-16-2003
Man, that was the worst thing ever. I mean, I've had my mail access taken away from me before, and that was horrible. And alltooflat has been off limits before, and that was miserable. But the ENTIRE DOMAIN being shut down for a week was probably the worst it's ever been. Emails getting bounced back to their senders (well, they would have
been, I think. Nobody really emails me except other people with
alltooflat.com email addresses, and their mail wasn't working for some
reason). I think ATFs internet street cred has been irreperably
damaged by this. We consulted an attorney about it, but he told us
that you can't prove damage to a reputation that was already at
nil.
All of that was something of an apology for not updating the blog -
but that's not really a good excuse. I remember in the old days, when
I was driven enough to write blogs at home by candlelight on paper
(that was a fair number of prepositional phrases) and
transcribe them the next day. At least, I think I transcribed them.
There's a possibility that I have a notebook full of unposted blog
entries, just waiting for their rediscovery by a wizened archivist
that has devoted his life to shining the glorious light of truth on
the shadowy conspiracies that are invariably going to cloud my later
life. I assume he'll call these years my Flat Period.
But what's been going on... Well, I think I mentioned that Sam got
GTA 3 for the house Playstation (like how it's the 'house' Playstation
now? When all we had was a copy of FIFA Soccer, it was Sam's). But
I've been surprisingly good about not playing it. I have, however,
been unsurprisingly bad about playing Fallout Tactics, when I
installed on my laptop. Defintely a bad idea. I head to wired coffee
shops every once in a while to get some music tracking done, and end
up playing video games. If there's anything lamer than taking your
computer with you for a coffee date, it's doing it so that you can
play video games in public. I personally believe playing video
games is not unlike eating without any clothes on. Sure we all do it,
but not in public.
We do all do that, right?
As a personal favor to everyone who reads this page (both of you, I
mean), I'm not going to say anything about The Matrix. Except for the
fact that, for some reason, I saw it twice within 24 hours of it's
release. The first time was funny - usually late night showing of a
highly-anticipated movie like that brings out the true fans (in the
true sense of the etymology). But since it was New York City, I had a
lot of trouble determining who dressed up like one of the human
rebels, and who was just coming in from the Astor Cube. Not even the
sunglasses helped. Hell, I was wearing sunglasses indoors, and
I was costumed as an electrical engineer (as I am most
nights).
I just did a horrible job not talking about that movie. Sorry.
