The Light Are Off But Someones Home: 5-2-2003

Crap. I just found out that the girl I was going to ask out today is married. I hate it when that happens. If it's not one thing it's another: it's always "Oh, thanks but I'm married," "That's sweet, but I only date girls," or "Get away from me you troglodyte before I call the police" while whacking me with their umbrella.

It's tough sometimes, but I muddle through. So, I can finally let you all in on the big news that I mentioned in an earlier blog. I'm switching jobs soon - got an offer from an actual company (as a reminder, I currently work for CUNY Graduate Center. Which, though I like working here and I feel it has been a rewarding experience, has about as much to do with the real workforce as playing Mario 64 has to do with numismatics (Which is to say, very little)). I'm excited about it, but nervous as well. Will definitely be a good experience.

In order to go to my new job, I'm going to have to leave my current job. Which I was concerned was going to be a little weird, but so far everyone has been very supportive of the entire thing. Except I think that my office is a little upset with me. The day I found out about it, the lights started flickering, and then one by one they started to go out. It seems that it takes a few days for each one to go out, and no two go out at the same time. I had six lights to begin with, and now only three remain operational. I recognize that I should really call Facilities or something like that to have them replace the burnt-out units. But to be honest, I'm really entertained by the entire thing. I'm so psyched for the day that the last light goes out, and I'm left in darkness. I imagine it's going to be a funny scene. I assume that's going to occur on my last day at the office, because why shouldn't it work like that?

Funny also is the fact that the first thing the guy who takes the job after me is going to have to deal with is the fact that there are no lights in his office. That's probably not nice of me. But it is funny.

I'd write some more, but I'm leaving right now to go to a showing of the new X-men movie. Which I'm super psyched about. Other things I'm psyched about are the new Matrix movie, midnight showings of Donnie Darko at Pioneer Theater, and for some reason, the new Jim Carrey movie.
