Bruno (the programmer who works across the hall from me) just handed me a bottle of wine he brewed (is that the right verb for wine?) from his own vineyard this past season. Which is really huge. I'm psyched for it; thinking about killing it during lunch. Which may not be appropriate, but I'm not too concerned. In fact, I really only have one reservation about the entire thing: (and it's not about the correctness of getting blotto during working hours): I saw that episode of I Love Lucy, and the image of Bruno stomping around in a vat full of grapes is vaguely disturbing. Not specifically Bruno, but pretty much anyone that isn't Lucille Ball, Drew Barrymore, or Shannyn Sossamon. Potentially Julio Gallo, but that's more because I know he'd do it right.

Of course, he's probably dead, and having a zombie Julio Gallo stomping around in wine vats is not only disturbing, it's pretty repulsive. And I'm sure he'd leave brain crumbs all around. But that's neither here nor there. The point is, I hope Bruno used a press. Big thanks to him for the bottle.

Friday night was really really huge. Went to see The Underworld at the Hammerstein. And it rocked my socks straight clear off my feet. The only problem is that I feel like I'm becoming an old man: I found myself saying things like "Did they have to let so many people in here?" and "I wish that guy would stop bumping into me." Of course, I can justify both of those statements because (a) I wanted fewer people in there so I could have more room to dance (like The Man From Another World: see the last blog entry) and (b) the reason that guy kept touching me was because he had taken a bunch of ecstacy and really liked the way my jacket felt. Sean (of Seans Corner fame [and soon-to-be ATF columnist]) found somebody's cell phone at the beginning of the show, and it turned out to belong to a girl who kept running her fingers through my hair in between bouts of making out with her boyfriend. I mention it because she too was on X, and I wanted to make a point: Though I don't hold with taking Ecstacy, I definitely have to note that people on it are always nice to be around. If a little touchy.

Sam and I went out looking for apartments again last night, and I think we found the place. Which I'm SO psyched about. It's a three bedroom in Astoria, a 6 minute walk from the 36th St. N train station. Two huge bedrooms, one smaller bedroom. a big living room, very useable kitchen, lots of windows. Spectacular spectacular (without the can-can girls). There's a laundry down the block, a supermarket on the corner, and a Walgreens across the street from the grocery. We're very interested, and I think I'm going to push Sam to have us sign for it soon. There are a couple of issues (it starts in November and Sams lease is up in December, we have to find a third person to take the other room, etc), but these are minor things. I'm a little concerned about the fact that it's really inexpensive, and seems like a very nice place. So I'm wondering why that's the case - I'm going to contact the downstairs tenants and see what the deal is.

Sometimes I feel bad for people who are getting involved in my life peripherally these days, since aspects of their lives become content for the site. I'm pretty good with not putting stuff about people actually close to me in here, but the downstairs tenants are going to be fair game. I'm hoping they are completely insane, so I have good stuff to write about.

Also - anyone want to move into a 7x12 room in Astoria for real cheap?
