Help Me Name My...

Neither rain, nor snow, nor darkest night...: 9-27-2002

The batteries on my diskman gave out. Which is so awesome, I can't even tell you. But before I start in with that, some brief apartment news:

I with Sam last night ( a name I hope you'll all be hearing more of in the coming months. Recall that he is the guy I'm thinking of moving in with when his current lease ends). Chatting about moving in together when his current lease ends, etc. I'll reiterate that I'm pretty psyched, and really hope this goes through. The current plan is Astoria in the end of November / beginning of December. Now, I will admit to having a couple of reservations about Queens:

1. It's not Brooklyn, so the 718 tattoo I got on the small of my back last month is going to embarrass me at the gym. There is, of course, a simple solution to this; just to not go to the gym. To be honest, it's the plan I have in effect right now, so why rock the boat?

2. Astoria is probably going to be way less funny to write about than was Bushwick. If only for the fact that the grocery won't be referred to as the "Ghetto Grocery."

But other than those simple concerns, I'm pretty psyched about Queens. I've heard good things. What's the Queens area code? Forget it, I looked it up on Google. It's also 718! That's so huge! Except now that when I don't go to the gym, it's because I'm a lazy sack.

But like I said, none of these things are the point. The point is, I'm getting an iPod really really soon. Like with everything else in my idyll of a life, I have some issues with this. First is that I have to spend my day at work, and not at the Apple store. Which is tough enough to deal with, but when I actually want to buy something there instead of hanging out in their auditorium and watching "Switch" commercials, it's nigh unbearable. Another problem (although I hesitate to call this a "problem" 'cuz it makes me sound like an ass. Call it a scheduling conflict) is that I want to visit my dad in the hospital (he'll be fine, thanks for being concerned) today after work. But this means that I really can't go after work to the Apple store, because then I'll miss visiting hours. I could wait for tommorrow (I mean, I'm definitely capable of that sort of will power), but then I'll come into the city, go to the apple store, buy an iPod and firewire card, and then continue to hang out in the city for a few hours? Not listening to the diskman that I didn't bring with me because it's batteries are dead (be damned if I'm buying another set of AA's for my diskman)? When i'm at home, I turn up the stereo when I go to the bathroom, I listen to music so much. I don't know that I can deal with that much time sans soundtrack to my life. Problems, problems. I have a funny feeling it's all going to be resolved, though.

And by resolved I mean "I'll have an iPod come the end of today, come hell or high water."
