Well, it's good to be living the flat life again.
A couple of weeks ago was Amateur Burlesque at Galapagos. The less said about this, I think, the better. I mean, it was fun and all for a while. But the green room at Galapagos is about 40 degrees, and that's really cold when you're only wearing a pair of boy shorts, stockings and garters. That, combined with the fact that instead of the first male to appear on stage during the burlesque competition, I was the third that night. The crowd gets somewhat unruly after that much boy flesh at what by all rights should be a girl flesh party, I'll tell you what. This is to say nothing about the heels.
Let us say nothing about the heels. But it was a good time for all of that.
What's up next, you ask? Well, May 26th
nyRPS.org is bringing us the Atlantic Yards Smackdown, a regional RPS tournament in Brooklyn NY. Team Alltooflat will be there as competitors, of course, and we'll be giving some help in organization as well if all goes well. Which is all very exciting. It will definitely get us in the right head space to do some work on our presentation.
What presentation? Well, I'm glad you asked. On Sunday, July 10th, ATF will be giving a lecture on the history of Rock, Paper, Scissors, the culture of modern RPS, and giving an interactive clinic where we give tips on playing like a champ. This will be down at the Coney Island Film Festival, as part of their weekly lecture/film series. I expect it to be an entertaining and enlightening experience, so join us, won't you? (Don't worry, I'll send a reminder).
What else. . . Oh yeah, the best things ever. Ton is coming into town for his Google internship for the summer, our friend Neil is coming into town for good for his new job, my family has recently grown by a single zygote thanks in part to my brother but mostly to my sister-in-law, and just about everything rocks.
But you know what? We always talk about me. Let's talk about you. Anyone who wants to tell me what they're up to should send me an email at
this link. Go on, tell me what's on your mind. I'll do my best to reply (although we at ATF are notoriously bad at that sort of thing. We get a lot of email, and an unfortunate amount goes unresponded to. Mind you, most of it is "I found a mirror font that you can use for your web page." But still, it's nice to take the time to contact us, and it's greatly appreciated).
