The Last Transmission: 6-2-2003
|coughcough|
By my best estimates, I only have an hour left. The tell-tale on the equipment that keeps me connected to this world and its mortal coil is flashing it's warning, and I'm afraid I no longer have the materials to fix it, nor the energy to keep this up for much longer.
In short - soon I shall be gone, a disconnected node, a severed limb. I've decided to spend my remaining time composing this missive to my associates, my companions - my friends one and all. I know you will be able to get my final message to the world. The future is unclear - I honestly don't know what will happen to me once the device loses power - will I discorporate? Gnosis? Transcendental illumination? There is some small possibility that with the interface on which I have become so dependant gone, I will find I can directly engage that other world we so often (too often, perhaps?) inhabit, my minds patterns being so used to the strange laws and paths that rule this land behind the veil.
There is an equal possibility I will find I have relied on this thing for too long, resulting in a symbiotic connection that, once severed, will recoil and destroy me. As I've said, I do not know. I've found that the quest for metaphor in this situation is a futile one - is this a cancer, a stitch, a conduit? I have long considered it the physical manifestion of an answer to prayer. Soon I will discover if our response was to lit candle or monkey's paw, and from godhead or djinn, .
Still, I feel no fear. Sadness perhaps, at the fact that there is so much more to do; and curiosity at what will come. But never fear. I accept the result of the decisions I have made in my life; even upon reflection I see I could have made no others and still have remained true to my heart.
Fie! Things are beginning to dim! I must cap and send this bottle off into the oceans. And then I will take things into my own hands - I myself will perform the disconnect, and not allow the vagaries of fate to make the decision of when things will cease. I could write more, but everything that has to be said has been said. I can feel you all with me here, and I expect that feeling will not leave even after all goes dark. Thank you for that. I wish you all the best until the end of your own time here, as this will be the last you will hear from me.
Unless, of course, I can find a merchant that sells power adapters for Dell notebooks in Seattle. What the Hell was I doing in Canada, and HOW did I forget to leave my adapter there? Disaster.
