Who is Charlie Future?: 11-4-2002

(note: a lot of this entry will seem very familiar to some of you. Sorry about that).

This morning was really strange. Woke up in an unfamiliar bed, not recognizing anything around me except a desklamp and a copy of Alan Moore's The Watchmen. It took me a few minutes, but I soon realized that I hadn't in fact been kidnapped by a white slave ring set on selling my pristine boyflesh to an Arab prince. Rather, I had spent last night in my brand-spanking new apartment in Astoria.

Upon realizing this, I lay in bed for another minute reveling in the supreme awesomeness of it all. And then I went to work (a commute that was shortened by about an hour. Which not only comes up huge for the amount of bed rest I can get at night, but also does wonders for my iPod's battery life). Well, a couple of other things, which were only interesting because of the situation (showering, shaving, making lunch). It's cool because everything I do right now I'm doing for the first time in this apartment. So when I stubbed my toe on my desk, it went something like "Dammit that hurt! Hey, that was the first stupid thing I did in this apartment! Awesome!"

Hurm... I wrote an entry last night as I was laying in bed, but you won't see it until tommorrow. See, I wrote it on paper (since I haven't set up my computer yet), and I forgot that I can't access the notebook on my desk via an ftp client. My bad. It pretty much said that there were SO MANY THINGS to blog about these days, it's ridiculous. It also mentioned that it was ridiculous that I was writing on paper, which I haven't done since the summer blackouts of aught-aught. Ah, those were the days: burning candles for light, telling stoties instead of web surfing, and being about to break down and killing my roommates when the lights came on.

I finished moving almost all of my stuff in on Sunday. I say almost, because I left my pillows in the living room and my weekly metro card in a really metal jacket I wore on Saturday. But we're almost at 100% I'm missing some essentials still (food, for instance. Anything to sit on that isn't my captains chair. Counter space in the kitchen. Forks), but I'm working on it. I haven't made the essential trip to IKEA yet; at the same time I'm scared and excited at the prospect. Excited because IKEA is incredibly, scared because there's a distinct possibility that every thing I own is going to be made of particle board and bright blue plastic.

Look, I got a lot to talk about, but to be honest, I can't really handle it all right now. To take my mind off things, I'm going to do some work. More tommorrow.
